The Stag's Head is an old coaching house which was constructed in the late 1800's.
In its latter years it was a community pub but in the ten years before Jimmy and Dawn bought the pub it had 8 different landlords. They recognised that for the pub to survive it needed to diversify and having used bunkrooms in the past decided to construct bunkrooms within the old accomodation rooms. With this and the addition of a food offering they hope to make the pub a success. Over the last 3 years they have carried out substantial work on the pub.
The village has easy access from the A1 and a bus from Newcastle stops at the door.
It has a games room with pool and darts , a traditional bar with a real fire and 2 dining areas. The pub serves locally brewed real ale.
The beer garden within the west facing courtyard catches the sun all day and is an ideal place to relax.
